An example of schema is if I was going to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch; then I asked you if I had chocolate chips in the cabinet. Most likely they would say “Yes” because they assume I have chocolate chips since I plan on making cookies. Script in social psychology is defined as a “series of behaviors, actions, and consequences that are expected in a particular situation or environment” (Schemas and Scripts, 2016). An example of a social script is buying groceries. We leave the house with our bags, wallet and grocery list. We drive to the grocery store, get a cart and walk down each isle selecting items from our list. We pay for the items, pack them in the car, drive home and put the groceries up.
