With this intention the US department of health and human sciences published the physical activity guidelines in 2008, to improve the health status of all Americans in all stages of lifespan. The main idea behind the physical activity initiative is that regular physical activity can produce long term health benefits. Furthermore, the guidelines points out the health benefits of physical activity from major research findings as, it is significant in reducing the adverse health effects, any kind of physical activity is better than none, additional benefits occur as the intensity and duration of activity increases, physical activity has benefits for all ages and for people with disabilities and chronic conditions. According to the guidelines, children and adolescents should do 60 minutes or more of physical activity daily for at least 3 days a week, which includes aerobic, muscle strengthening, and bone strengthening exercises. Thus, the participation form school settings has an evidence based opportunity to increase the physical activity in this age group. In adults for most health benefits, the guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes in a week of moderate intensity physical activity or 75 minutes in a week of intense physical activity.
