Background
Falun Gong is a religious movement that is regarded as an illegal movement in China. Falun Gong was introduced to the public of China in 1992 after which it spread though out the country until 1999. It took a short period of time to become China’s most popular qigong. A survey that was conducted by the Chinese government as well as the reports from the media found that by 1998, between 70 and 100 million people were already practicing Falun Gong. A significant number of people practiced the exercise of Falun Gong outdoors either in large cities or in parks in China (Hancock 464). There is a probability that the most frequently tortured group globally is the Falun Gong.
