Immigration has been around for many years and just recently, it has been one of the most discussed topics in the United States. The two articles that are being compared are “Only Mass Deportation Can Save America” by Bret Stephens and “The Case against Immigration – Why the United States Should Look Out for Itself” by Steven Camarota and the ideas that are being discussed are population growth, education and work ethic. Americans believe that mass deportation can save America while others believe Immigrants are useful to this country. Both articles are different and similar because they both talk about the immigration problem and how the immigrants are effecting this country and ruining it and how they need to get out, but in the other hand, it …show more content…
Immigrants aren’t the problem they are the solution to America. Both articles discuss the issue of the number of immigrants in this country and the birth rate.
In an article called “Only Mass Deportation Can Save America” by Bret Stephens discusses several points on how immigrants show improvement in America and how they are hardworking people. In paragraph seven it is stated that “Business creation? Non-immigrants start businesses at half the rate of immigrants, and accounted for fewer than half the companies started in Silicon Valley between 1995 and 2005. Overall, the share of nonimmigrant entrepreneurs fell by more than 10 percent points between 1995 and 2008, according to a Harvard Business Review study.” What this is trying to say is that immigrants have been showing progress and want the best for this country and Stephens is placing emphasis on the progress immigrants are making. Stephens continues to say “So-called real Americans are screwing up America. Maybe they should leave, so that we can replace them

Well, No. The system of Capitalism in America is so broken that, in fact, the top 1% of the nation continues to prosper while the bottom 99% flounder. If America is to survive both socially and financially, the wealthy must pay their fair share, or the nation must find a new way to avoid poverty. In 2015 alone, corporate profits rose to nearly 2 trillion dollars nationwide (“Corporate Profits after Tax”), and the average CEO pay was 13.5 million, a nearly 15.6% increase from the previous year (“Executive Paywatch”). While these numbers would sound fantastic to the average seller, they spell doom for the average worker.…

The Economist magazine used car manufactures as an example: “since 1994 carmaking’s contribution to GDP—to which outsourced production by American firms does not contribute—has fallen by about 10%. But there are 30% fewer carmaking jobs” (The Economist). American car manufactures have lost some jobs to outsourcing, which accounts for the 10% decrease in GDP. However the 30% decrease in jobs is not a reflection of outsourcing, but the increase of technology within the field. In fact, technology has taken over numerous jobs the United States has outsourced in past decades.…

In the article “The National Death Wish” stated,“An exhaustive U.S. study by National Academy of Sciences found that immigration didn’t drive down most wages, but it had ‘very small’ and temporary effect on native-born workers without high school diploma”; however, in an article, “Yes, Immigration Hurts American Workers”, implies, “Typical high school dropout earns about $25,000 annually...immigrants admitted in the past two decades lacking a high school diploma have increased the size of the low-skilled workforce by roughly 25 percent. As a result, the earnings of this particularly vulnerable group dropped by between $800 and $1,500 each year”. Immigrants may have created more jobs for the lower class, but initially immigrants are the only one’s willing to take those jobs, but it leaves uneducated Americans income to decrease. As it connects back to low income housing, they can not keep up or afford the payments In the same article, “Yes, Immigration Hurts American Workers”, “Immigrants receive government assistance at higher rates than natives. The higher cost of all the services provided to immigrants and the lower taxes they pay (because they have lower earnings) inevitably implies that on a year-to-year basis immigration creates a fiscal hole of at least $50 billion—a burden that falls on the native population”.…

As china grew to become the world’s dominant export power, the U.S. lost over 2 million manufacturing jobs between 1999 and 2001. But new American jobs were created during those years, in a slower pace. The American firms build factories abroad to take advantage of the cheaper labor. This number seems to be staggering but in reality, cheap Chinese imports helped American companies to become more efficient and hire new workers in the service sector because of the cheaper goods that were avaliabe as…

Immigration is very big topic in today’s world. The idea of somebody leaving their home country and going somewhere to make a better life for themselves and their family is something that everybody should strive for. Parents only want to make their children’s better than what they had. The problem with this idea is that some people want it so bad they break laws in order to do so. Over the last two decades or so, illegal immigration to the United States has almost tripled from an estimated 4 million undocumented residents in 1986 to about 11.2 million in 2008 (Kim, Clarvalho, Davis, Mullins 2011 p. 292).…

According to a Brooking Institute report, San Francisco ranks second in income inequality in major U.S. cities only behind Atlanta(Puzder 2). Raising the minimum wage gives the illusion of helping the income gap, but in reality it only increases income inequality. Businesses will turn to automation as wages rise because of the decreased cost and increased efficiency that they provide over traditional labor(Puzder 2). Overall, a nation wide minimum wage increase would result in thousands of lost jobs and will hurt the current wage…

The fourth, immigrants are a drain on taxpayers. According to a 2007 report by the Congressional Budget Office found that over the past two decades that tax revenues of all types made by immigrants, both legal or not, exceed the cost of the services they use. And, the last one, immigrants are stealing American jobs. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the immigrants create jobs, and without the immigrants, the U.S. would lose jobs. Also, the Bell policy center, a Colorado research group found that for every job that an immigrant held in their states, another 0.8 jobs are created.…

To counter the notion that allowing amnesty will make others want to come here, I feel that the influx is not the issue. An analysis by the Pew Research Center that examined 2010 population data found that "nearly two-thirds of the 10.2 million unauthorized adult immigrants living in the United States have been in the country for at least 10 years and that nearly half are parents of minor children (Burns, 2013). For new immigrants, it mostly comes down to opportunity. Are they stealing American worker jobs? Perhaps in some cases, but ultimately the jobs they are seeking are in specialized fields, which would not work against American workers as a whole.…
