As a kid people always tell you to dream big. In the book Of Mice and Men the main characters are George and Lennie. They have like a brother type of relationship. Even though they are not related, George still takes care of Lennie. They are on the run from their hometown looking for work.Once they find a job and meet new people they develope a dream they are going to chase. The dreams of each character plays an important role and affects the characters the other characters.
George and Lennie had a dream to get away from the farm and get their own land. For example in the book George tell Lennie they will live “off the fatta the land” (7). This example is important because it gives Lennie motivation to not give up …show more content…
One time when Curley’s wife was in Riverside Dance Palace a man came up to her and told her he was going to put her in the movies. He told her “soon's he got back to Hollywood he was gonna write to me about it” (44). The man told Curley’s wife she was a natural and she really thought she was going to be the movie star. She never got the letter or anything it was all just talk. Curley’s wife knew about Candy’s dream also.
Candy had the same dream as Lennie and George. Candy wanted to go along with George and Lennie to get away from the farm. “Spose I went in with you guys (59).” Candy was going to do anything to go with them he also offered “three hundred an’ fifty dollars” (59). Candy, Lennie, and George all had the same dream to get away.
The dreams of the characters in the book help them get through the challenges in the book. George, Lennie, and Candy’s dream helped them stay motivated and keep working so that they could get the farm. They did not want to just stop working and not earn any more money because they knew how much money the farm would cost.
