What is the American dream? That is the question all Americans ask themselves. Some figure it out early in life some don’t find it until later in life. With George and Lennie, they found their American dream somewhat later in life and we're working field to field to try and achieve it. George knows what he wants in life and is working towards it. Lennie just wants to be with George and tend to the rabbits.

But when you have a friendship like Georges and Lennie having that person to talk to ill help you and your soul along the way. An example of this would be when George found out Lennie had killed Curly’s wife he knew what he had to do to save Lennie from himself. Maybe George would have not had to worry about anyone if Lennie wasn’t around, but he would be like the rest of these men on the ranch all cold hearted and not feeling a thing for another person or their feeling. But with George and Lennie, they had each other and during that time period that was very uncommon and that’s what made their friendship much more mean
