Did you know that about one half of Americans; which is about 97 million; are obese? Obesity is a condition of excessive body fat, which has been an issue for kids and even adults today. America is one of the most obese countries in the world, and the reasons are all around us. Fast food chains on every block, more and more technology to make our lives easier, and high amounts of stress are all factors to weight gaining in our country. The way American’s can see change in the rise of obesity is by changing their daily routines and schedules. Ever since Fast Food was created over 40 years ago, there has been an increase in fast-food restaurants in America. These restaurants serve more than millions of people per day, generating millions of dollars. These restaurants, such as McDonald 's, Jack in the Box, and Wendy’s, serve pre-cooked or frozen foods to their customers. Since obesity has started to become a national epidemic fast-food restaurants have started to change their ways. Now, their French fries are fried in vegetable oil, and there are now healthier side options to choose from. However, there needs to be more than just change a few changes to actually make an impact on the population. In his article, “Don’t Blame the Eater”, David Zinczenko, an editor in chief of Men’s Health Magazine, discusses on how kids today are becoming obese from the large amounts of fast food around them.
