In todays society making money is the main objective. But at what cost? Would you sell something that could end up harming millions? This toxic food labeled “Fast Food” is seen everywhere on every street, every Tv channel, and just about every billboard. Fast food companies will do anything and everything to attract costumers as well as keep them wanting more. Fast food companies attempt to lure children towards their food while their young so they become addicted to the food once they are adults. As stated by the Upstream Public Health,“Ads can be seen in cafeterias, donated classroom materials, and food coupons given as awards”. According to the Washington Post, the average child between the ages of two and eleven sees nearly 200 commercials for McDonald’s Happy Meals. “Fast food chains spend a large amount of marketing to get the attention of children. People form their eating habits as children so they try to nurture clients as youngsters”(Schlosser). A study from Arizona State University mentions that 40% of kids between 12 and 19 years consume food from fast food restaurants daily. In addition, these companies …show more content…
For the most part a big advantage is that it is fast and in todays society not many people have the time to cook for their families. Also, with todays economy we try to save as much money and fast food is cheap. But because of fast food is cheap does not mean it has to be unhealthy. Many restaurant now offer healthier alternatives and nutritional information. Is the money these food companies make worth it? They are endangering the health of millions but as long as they become richer and others become out of shape it’s ok. Not only do adults eat unhealthy but we are now teaching children that it is okay. “ Fast food is popular because it’s convenient, it’s cheap, and it taste good, but the real cost of eating fast food never appears on the menu”
