Does your family prefer using Western medicine? Which parts of Western Medicine are common for your family to use?
Interviewee A: They use mostly Western medicine in her family. She was sick a lot as a child and spent a lot of time in hospitals, so her family really depending on Western forms of medicine. Her dad is also a doctor, so he spends a lot of time surrounded by Western medicine. The most common parts of Western medicine are medications and testing that helped her get better when she was in the hospital.
Interviewee B: His family prefers Western medicine because his mom and dad are both nurses. His mom still use some traditional healing techniques, but the majority is medicine through the doctor or hospital.
My response: My family used Western medicine for all forms of illnesses. If someone in my family appears to be unwell, they will be taken to the doctor’s office for testing and medication to help heal them. My family also makes sure to get our flu shots every year to avoid getting sick during the flu season.
What reason would your family need to see a traditional healer?
