Hence, the demand for cosmetic surgical treatments has been increasing year by year as it is believed by a group of young adult that the possibility of gaining more opportunities and congeniality are higher than others (i.e. confidence, mental health, and employment). Although, a research/journal article done by Wijsbek (2000) had introduced the word “Lifestyle” which refers to a way of showing the world which things in life you deem important, what kind of life you want to live, and what kind of person you want to be, obviously, this could go for men as well. Nevertheless, this research/ journal article attempted to investigate females’ perspective on a cosmetic surgery, by interviewing, either women choose to have a cosmetic surgery because of an awareness of how males view them based on a male-dominated beauty system or women make their own decisions for their own advantages. One feminist answered to the question, opposing with 2 paradoxes. Firstly, women do not want to determine their uniqueness or eccentricity on a medical technology, standard acceptability from surroundings is their preferences. Secondly, “women who involve themselves in the pursuit of youth and beauty do not take their body as something natural or given, but rather as raw material to be shaped and pruned to fit some external standard. Their bodies are transformed for others to exploit them.” This journal article is significant to this research because it included perspectives of females on how they viewed and prioritised a cosmetic surgery, however, this article does not explore a large number of females, it can bring biased into the result.
