This quote is a perfect example of how people with breast cancer should look at it. Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast usually in the lining of the milk ducts or in the milk glands. Malignant means that it is cancerous. There are many different procedures but some keywords that may help it be easier to understand exactly what is being said are; mastectomy which is when the doctors surgically remove all of part of the breast, another keyword is mammogram which is used when getting an x-ray of the breast. When diagnosing breast cancer doctors have five different ways to test and figure out whether or not a person has breast cancer. The doctor can do a simple breast exam where he checks both breast and armpits for any lumps or other abnormalities, a mammogram, breast ultrasound that uses waves to produces images or structures deep within the body, that will also tell whether it is a solid mass or just a fluid-filled cyst, a breast MRI that creates pictures of the interior of the breast can be used to determine if someone has breast cancer. They also might remove a sample of breast to send it to the lab for testing(biopsy). A biopsy sample is also analyzed to determine the type of cells involved in the breast cancer, the aggressiveness (grade) of the cancer, and whether the cancer cells have hormone(Staff, M.C. 2015). Another way to make sure that you are on top of checking for breast cancer is to do a simple breast exam on yourself. After figuring out that a person has breast cancer the next step is to find out how aggressive it may be and the cells involved in the cancer. With breast cancer there are four stages. Stage one the cancer cells are in a limited area and very small, at stage two is when the cancer starts to grow or possibly even spread, stage three cancer starts invading surrounding tissues, and stage four the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. With this essay people are more educated about breast cancer and it will help them have a better chance to survive. Getting checked out is a good thing and when people are around 50 years old it is highly recommended to get routine breast exams from a doctor. It will only increase survival for people and help promote a healthier happier life. If people do not get checked out they will have to go through all the treatment and the side affects that come along with it. Do not wait until it is too late.
