The economic growth in Manitoba between 2004 and 2007 experienced an upward trend in terms of growth in exports. The economy grew tremendously through this period before a downward trend that was experienced in 2008. According to the state authorities, the provincial export which was given in terms of all the finished products and all the services exported in 2009 were given a value of $26.7 billion (as at 2002) (Fletcher 2011). With this downward trend experienced that worsened 2009, the economy was shaken and therefore a lot of income was lost. Exports are the main means in which the economy is affected both nationally and internationally. The exports play a crucial role in the growth of the economy in all aspects and therefore every government aims at ensuring that the exports are maintained at an all time high in order to maintain the income at an all time high. 2008 was one of the good years for Manitoba in terms of exports within Canada (Fletcher 2011). As other countries were experiencing a 3.1%downward trend in trade within Canada, Manitoba was able to manage a 2.4% upward trend for trade within Canada.
