I believe that the subject which makes me most qualified for studying law is History, from the foundations of the Magna Carta which are still in place today, 800 years on, to the great acts of legislation passed by Henry VIII which shaped not only the Church of England but Tudor society. Additionally, through studying History I have developed analytical skills when examining sources of information to understand to what extent a source is reliable. Psychology has given me an interest in current issues and debates not only just within the subject but in a wider context, through the application of psychological theories and studies into the real world and how these ideas can be used to help others. I have particularly enjoyed studying criminal psychology as it provides possible explanations for criminal behaviour but also explanations to how criminals can be treated to avoid the chances of recidivism. It would be unfair to characterize English language and law as an interlinked subject, however the English language is something which continually changes and adjusts to fit the demands of its users, in my opinion I think that not too dissimilarly law is something which is continually altering depending on demands of current situations. Whilst working there I have grown in confidence as an individual and team player. My responsibility has increased whilst working there, through working on reception I am responsible for cash handling and ensuring that the tills balance. Through this I have developed effective communication skills and I feel that I can share a lot of empathy with customers through having an understanding of their needs and demands. In year 10, I undertook one week’s work experience at Needwood CofE primary school, from this I felt that I gained positive relationships with both the children I was working with as well as the staff, it was an experience I really enjoyed and felt that I was able to use my initiative when required in order to assist with the running of the school. During registration, I have helped with reading workshop which encourages dyslexic children to read and to be confident in reading out loud. I have secured a work experience placement at a local solicitors- Bowcock and Pursaill solicitors, which will give me a firm foundation ready to study law. Next summer, I plan to visit India to do some voluntary work at a construction workers
