The film Scotland P.A is a modernized parody of the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. It is set in the 1970s in suburban Pennsylvania. On the other hand Macbeth is set mainly in Scotland written in 1606. Although Scotland P.A. is a modernized version of Macbeth there are many similarities and difference when it comes to the theme of corruption of power. Corruption is something that is motivated by greed and fraud. It’s a very threatening personality that controls and destroys people’s lives and makes them the kind of person other people don’t want to associate with. Bhupendra Nandlal Kesur can show supporting themes for both Macbeth and Scotland P.A. in the article “Corruption, Manipulation and Abuse of Power in Shakespearean Tragedy Macbeth.” Using the literary devices symbolism, imagery, and diction help support the authors theme. Both Scotland P.A and Macbeth are perfect examples of how corruption of power can ruin peoples lives. The play Macbeth opens with three witches along with lighting and thunder. The weather that comes with the witches symbolize the corruption that is about to happen in the play. This is the point in the play where Macbeth and Banquo both find out what their future holds and all hell breaks loose from then on. Lady Macbeth is a major character throughout the story and is also the main reason Macbeth becomes a trader and a coward. Lady Macbeth symbolizes strength and power that her husband doesn 't seem to have. She steals him of his manhood…
