January 26, 1917 Louis Zamperini was born to Anthony and Louise Zamperini, an Italian family. Louis Zamperini was a badly behaved kid. He started smoking when he was five and started drinking at 8. His father, Anthony Zamperini, taught him how to box and he started beating people up then bullied him. He jumped on trains to go to Mexico, which got him in a lot of trouble. He deflated a teacher's car tires and even threw tomatoes at a police officer. His family thought he would go know where but jail. Louis Zamperini started doing track ending his bad reputation. In 1936 Louis tried out for the Olympics in track and field, at the age of 19 setting a world record. Louis Zamperini went to the 1936 Berlin Olympic where he met Adolf Hitler. He was a bombardier on a B- 24 Liberator or also known as “The Green Hornet.” In May 27, 1943 “The Green Hornet” crashed into the ocean killing eleven out of fourteen men. Louis Zamperini was one of the 3 that survived. Louis Zamperini, Russell Allen, and John Macarthur. (Bio.com)
