Immanuel Kant ethical theory is called Kantianism and the type of theory that it falls under is non-consequential. Non-consequential theories are based on moral factors rather than the outcome of the results. Therefore, Kantian ethics is based on doing the right thing on coming up with a solution or action. Kant’s theory is also based on moral autonomy, which is self-ruled and categorical imperative, which is like a moral duty. In order to be a Kantian solution, the solution must pass two tests, which are universality and respect for persons. Kant’s principle of universality is an attempt to eliminate inconsistencies and contradictions, allowing the belief that humans should always act according to the same principles and standards. …show more content…

Applying Kant’s Theory to Case 11
1. Consider all possible optional actions.
Ebony possible options are:
1. Ebony could tell Tamara about Luke’s condition
2. Ebony could keep Luke’s condition a secret
3. Ebony could talk to Luke and convince him to tell Tamara about his condition a
4. Ebony could tell Tamara to stay away from Luke
2. Apply universality. Eliminate all options that could not logically be moral standards for everyone.
Kant’s principle of universality is that people should act how they would like others to act. Since this theory is non-consequential it is base on the morality rather than the results of outcome. Therefore, in applying universality to Ebony’s options,
