Today’s generation encounters an ever-increasing dominance of a global web-based movement, fast-paced lifestyles and the demise of old-fashioned values. Cardinal adaptations are required in the progressing movement of changes, for the continual development of nutrition in practice. These are paramount in shaping the future for the younger generation’s optimal wellbeing. Nutritional practice for today’s children is a vast area of diverse scope, with a range of legislations, acts and controversial topics from behavioural to campaign influences. The focus of this paper is on the impact of generational changes and how the current way of life impacts the juvenile population’s diet and lifestyle, as well as the ethical considerations to nutrition in practice adaptations.
The awareness for sustenance and welfare began to take shape in the latter part of the 19th century. Poverty predominately created the largest difficulties, even though governments had commenced changes. Still little improvement was observed, especially in children’s health from times since the industrial revolution. Seebohm Rowntree’s survey (John Veit Wilson, 1986) of working class families in York in 1901 assisted in bringing the liberal reforms of 1906-1912.
