In the poems and writings the writers make the audience imagine and feel what they are saying about the war. For example in “War Is Kind” by Stephen Crane it says “your father tumbles in the yellow trenches, / Raged at his breast, gulped and died” (13, 14). The author show protest by making the reading imagine that you don’t wanna lose your life or anyone else. Another writer, Wilfred Owen, also show imagery in his writing. In his poem “Dulce et Decorum Est” he describe “many lost their boots/ But limped on, blood shod” (5, 6) to reveal that the military isn’t what people think. the war basically didn’t meet their needs so they went insane. Owen also show irony in his poem by saying “you would not tell with such high zest/ to children ardent for some desperate [measures]” (25, 26). This is basically saying that the writers that isn’t against war is lying to kids to be in the military to be in war. The writer, Kevin Powers, show a lot of irony to the readers I bet. By example in the story The Yellow Birds states “cowardice got you into this mess because you wanted to be a man” (16) to make the reader see that you don’t have join the war to show that you a man.
