Essay about Involvement Of United States During World War II
American military technologies developed during World War II became more advanced and specialized as the war progressed. The technologies produced ranged in complexity from relatively simple items such as small arms and armored vehicles, including tanks, to more complex items such as the atomic bomb. The latter, produced under the secretive Manhattan Project, proved to be an incredibly powerful weapon that revolutionized warfare and was used to end the war. Many war technology were invented during the World War II. One of them is Radar technology.
Radar was secretly developed by several nations in the period before and during World War II. The term Radar was coined by United States in 1940 as acronym of RAdio Detection And Ranging. Radar is an object-detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of objects. It can be used to detect aircraft, ships, spacecraft, guided missiles, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain. A radar transmits radio waves or microwaves that reflect from any object in their path. A receive radar, which is typically the same system as the transmit radar, receives and processes these reflected waves to determine properties of the object(s).
In April 1940, Popular Science showed an example of a radar unit using the Watson-Watt patent in an article on air defense. Also, in late 1941 Popular Mechanics had an article in which a U.S. scientist…
