The 14th Dalai Lama is well traveled and has been forced to seek exile in India running away from the dictatorship of the Chinese government in Tibet. The Dalai Lama has met world’s religious leaders like the pope who is the head of the Roman Catholic Church as well as world’s political leaders in Asia, Europe, and North America including three sitting American presidents. His wide travel and religious knowledge has resulted in his making a stand which calls for religious harmony and unity as he believes this is a great stride in world peace and offers a chance for diversity. He believes that this will make all people happy which is the ultimate teaching of Buddhism as well as other religions about life. “A society that prides in many religions should have a rich culture tapped from this diverse resources as well as be a sources of refuge. Respect for each other’s religion is key to ensure harmony and avoid anarchy in such a society. This does not mean that one’s faith in his education should diminish rather we should aspire to accommodate those of a different religious view. ” (Dalai Lama)
