Mirrors, such as multiplications, and narcissistic seductions, which point to a celibate eroticism, which must not account to anyone, but to himself, is the name that came to my mind to define this core of works that are one of the classic moments of the American imagination. Years that appears as “happy” nowadays, while then they appeared, as all the times, full of contradictions and tears. Every event is seen in the key of consumption, absorption, chaos of the metropolis par excellence, New York. They wrapped in the light of real-time communication, the intermittent performance, the ephemeral elevation to the idolatrous level, the reckless illusion of omnipotence, sex as a pure fun of prostitution and pornography. The punishment is to be crushed by a crowd of people who follow every sect, mystical , work leader, such as an excessive force of immunity that discards any quality. There is no time, no more time, Andy Warhol thinks, coming out of poverty background of a Slovak Ruthenian and entering the blinding light of the metropolis, becoming a dream factory, the place where everything could happen, it was enough to want it, as in a fable of identity, where reality could be manipulated; in short, the breakup of a catastrophe to a happy end, also because in the end “ours” arrive, causing a fantastic artificial paradise, after Pittsburgh limbo. We can say that he does not look for something in particular, he just wanders between people and things. At the end he finds, picking up what the metropolis lets falling around and lets dropping everything because all is consumable, even life and death, with the indifference of the news that goes fast on the newspaper, on the screen and then it is immediately forgotten, because other dramas fall, other comedies are performed, in the society of the show that has taken over everything with the arms of smiling or weeping
