After reading “How to Give Orders Like a Man” by Deborah Tanner, I considered the difference between direct and indirect communication. While indirect communicators are polite, respectful, mindful of others, and at times use silence to communicate, I presume it leaves room for confusion. Meaning that the listener might not accurately interpret what the communicator is asking or implying. An example of this is when the co-pilot for Air Florida Flight 90, expresses apprehension about taking off, when airplane had been situated for a while after de-icing. On the contrary, direct communicators are authoritative, brutally honest, and tell it like it is, which in turn does not create uncertainty in the listener. If the co-pilot for Flight 90, would
