Discovering we could research a topic from a chapter we have not covered in class, I was delighted. This assignment was enjoyable because the research process and uncovering information fulfills the investigative side of my personality. My reason for choosing the topic of motivation in chapter nine was because my connection with motivation as a college student along with the relevancy of this topic to my current life situation. Motivation has also had an impact on aspects in my life outside of school and I have had my struggles and triumphs. However, there was uncertainty with what I wanted to learn about this topic and thusly had to spend some time sifting through articles while at the Tacoma Community College library within the online database. I knew if I attempted such a thing from home, I would easily become distracted. While sifting through PsyArticles online database and using the keyword motivation to begin the search, I noticed an article that discussed intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation. These words grabbed my attention, so I looked at that article but it failed to interest me. This is when I narrowed my search to include intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. I probably skimmed through about 7 or 8 articles before finding the article about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in college achievement, extremely relevant information since I am a current student.
