How Men's Body Image Affected By The Media

We all think that we have to be perfect, from the way we act to the way we look. But, we need to accept the fact that we will never be perfect because we are not made to be perfect. In American society today, people can be their own worst enemies when it comes to how they feel about their appearance when compared to others; this is due to the unrealistic expectations placed upon people by the media which leads to a lot of issues.
The media has caused a lot of body image issues with women, especially teenage girls, and men feeling like they need to look like the images they see. This is an impossible goal to achieve, because in reality, no one looks that way since everyone's appearance is difference. Men can also be affected by the media editing images. With men, the media always portrays images of men who are really fit and never portrays images of men who are not fit. I was talking to my brother this summer about how the media portrays men since he is really healthy and works out but does not look like the guys in magazines. He was telling me that he gets so mad when he sees the magazine covers with guys who have really defined muscles because there are so many guys who work so hard to stay in shape but are not able to have the appearance like the magazines.
