The crime was performed late at night in a house with only two people which means it could have only been one of the two that committed the crime. When the police showed up they said that a man named Mr.Poe invited them inside, and when the group got to a certain part of the house, the man started exclaiming telling the police officers that he could hear a heart beating although he didn’t know that it was his own, and the man tore up the wooden planks that were on the ground and threw them to the side revealing an elderly corpse with his body dismembered into several parts. He shrieked once - once only. In an instant I dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him.” Now this shows that he confesses on how he killed him, although it is unknown on how the body parts are still in shape if the bed crushed the man underneath. Mr.Poe is sane. He understands the severity of his actions and/or is not impulsive. Mr. Poe states, “If you still think me mad, you will think so no longer when I describe the wise precautions I took for the concealment of the body. Hearken! And observe how healthy - how calmly I can tell you the whole story.” This shows that he is still sane by knowing how and why he killed the old man. If Mr.Poe was insane then he would not have any memory of doing the actions he
