She would often have tantrums because she was so frustrated. Due to Helen’s outbursts, her parents decided to take action and contacted the Perkins Institution for the blind with knowledge of another deaf-blind, girl Laura Bridgman who had amazing success with the institution. After communicating with the establishment, they recommended a woman named Anne Sullivan, who had just recently graduated, to become Helen’s tutor. Anne was diagnosed with an eye disease, resulting with her being nearly blind and had attended the Perkins Institution as well. Upon finding this out, Helen wanted to learn how to speak as well. So, Sullivan took her to Sarah Fuller, the principal of the Horace Mann School for the Deaf. After lots of hard work, Helen eventually learned to speak not only one language but also several including French, German, and English. Keller additionally studied history, mathematics, literature, astronomy, and physics while attending the Wright-Humason School for the Deaf and the Cambridge School for Young Ladies. Her determination to possess as much knowledge as possible took her to Radcliffe College, from which she graduated cum laude (“Contemporary Heroes and
