- Feminism and equality
“The belief that women are and should be treated as potential intellectual equals and social equals to men” this is how the dictionary describes feminism and the goal that feminist strive to reach. However, what if this is not the end point? This is one of the main questions Hanna Rosin asks and answers in her article The end of Men.
In her article, she describes how modern, postindustrial society is simple better suited to women. She points out that more and more families want girls, that fewer women than men lost their jobs in the Great Recession, that women has become the majority of the workforce for the first time in U.S history and that for every two men who get a college degree this year …show more content…
Especially the films and music videos are extremely bad sources. An example of this could be the sources she uses, but also how she uses them, in the part where she talks about cougars. She mentions the movie Up in the air and the role that George Clooney has in it.
“If the sexiest man alive can get twice rejected (and sexually played) in a movie, what hope is there for anyone else?”(P. 4 L. 132-133)
The sexiest man alive in this quote is George Clooney. The problem with this source is that it is fiction and that does not necessary reflect the real world, because somebody made it up. Who says that the actors that play the girls that rejected Clooney in the movie would do that in real life?
It is exactly the same thing with music videos, they can reflect the real world, but they do not necessarily do that.
Besides being bad sources the movie and music video she mentions in her article helps to engage the reader. Most people know about these things. It is something rather new. For example, most people know who George Clooney is. Compared to statistics it is lighter and easier to read about and therefore this makes the article lighter, easier to read and
