In the tragedy play of Hamlet written by William Shakespeare, portrays a variety of themes. One example of theme is the revenge throughout the play, as Hamlet is the protagonist. In the beginning of the play Hamlet’s father, who is the former king of Denmark has been mysteriously murdered. The ghost of the former king appears to Hamlet to let him know that his brother (Claudius) has poisoned him. This shocking information gave the protagonist the urge to avenge his father’s death. However, Hamlet’s revenge is delayed in three significant ways. His mother’s desire is becoming an obstacle, he missed his one opportunity to killing Claudius, and he gets sent away to England. After being sent away to school in England, Hamlet comes back to Denmark. Only to find that his father has appeared to be murdered, and his mother has remarried to Claudius. In the event that Gertrude (Hamlets Mother) has remarried. She shows that she has no grief over the death of Hamlets father. He then comes into conclusion that she is being an accomplice after he says “A bloody deed? Almost as bad, good mother, as kill a king and marry with his brother.”(Shakespeare 1765) However, Gertrude has no idea what he is referring to. In addition, Hamlet feels that his mother should be grieving in pain, yet she shows no emotion. Leading him to think poorly about her. Hamlet assumes that his desire should be the same desire as his mother’s, and that the both of them should be weeping together over the loss of his father’s death. Since the outcome becomes the opposite. He is furious with his mother, as she has moved on so quickly. Claudius has now figured out that hamlet knows the truth and want to get rid of him. He send Hamlet, and his two closet friends to England to collet tribute that is owed to Demark and wants to ‘cover up’ for him. What Hamlet doesn’t know is that his two closet friend (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern) are really going behind his back. The two are supposed to hand deliver a letter that explains how hamlet should be assassinated. However, Hamlet find the letter and reads “Their grand commission, where I found, Horatio—O royal knavery!—an exact command, Larded with many several sorts of reasons Importing Denmark’s health, and England’s too, With—ho!—such bugs and goblins in my life That, on the supervise (no leisure bated, No, not to stay the grinding of the ax) My head should be struck off.”(Shakespeare 1795) In result to reading the letter hamlet wants to go back to Denmark. The reason for this is because “Hamlet has the most powerful motives which can urge the human breast; his struggle is with one who has murdered his father, debauched his mother, and usurped his throne.” (Snider 76). Meaning that Hamlet has all the reasons to kill the person who has given him all the problems. Now that he has found out that Claudius has turned his friends against him. He becomes desperate to kill him. Afterwards Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are being killed as hamlet has rewrote the letter with
