According to a Chinese legend, the green tea history began in 2737 BC when a man known as Shien Non Shei started to brew a leaf in the water because he simply thought a leaf from the plant he found was tasty (Allard n.pag). Another record says that the Chinese Emperor Shen Nung accidently found tea when a leaf from the plant fell into his cup while he was drinking a hot water (Allard n.pag). Many years later, European and Chinese immigrants introduced green tea to the United States (Allard n.pag). Once, tea was an expensive beverage in China; only wealthy people enjoyed tea as their privilege. After approximately 5000 years of history, green tea widespread all over the world and is consumed in all ages and countries.

Thus, drinking green tea daily or regularly will give many people an opportunity to not experience cancer or at least, delay tumor growth. Even thought green tea can not fully prevent people from getting cancer, it can help people by slowing down the tumor growth so that it does not spread to the other organs. Taking too much caffeine has several side effects such as uncontrollable emotions, anxiety and insomnia (Burling 23). In addition to the caffeine in the green tea, green tea also disturbs iron absorption (Nelson and Poulter 43). When there is not enough iron in human’s body it can cause iron deficiency and anemia. Although these side effects of the green tea are true facts, green tea has more advantages than disadvantages. Moreover, green tea has very small amount of caffeine compare to other teas. It has approximately 8 to 30 mg caffeine per cup that is much less than the caffeine amount in black and oolong tea (Harvard Women’s Health 7). For iron deficiency cases, iron can be easily supplemented by vitamins pills in the grocery markets.
