Druker has done a great job addressing this book against the lack of government regulation, misrepresentation, and fraudulent acts that have taken place in front of our eyes to promote GMO’s and illegally get them on the American market. Before I read this novel, I thought I knew enough about what GMO’s were and how they were being monitored within our government, but what I found out after reading this novel was absolutely shocking and eye-opening. I would have never thought the US Food and Drug Administration would lie to its own public to illegally claim that GE foods are generally recognized as safe and help the biotechnology corporations get such products on the market without any solid evidence that proves that GE foods are safe to consume. For example, not only should the first commercially grown genetically engineered food the Flavr Savr tomato been a sign that these products are not as safe as the are announced to be, it should have been the end of GMO’s there and then. Not only has technology made tremendous strides in the last few decades, it has given us an ability to get all the information we need at the hit of a button. However, many people today seem to believe whatever they see or read on the internet, when in fact we should question what we see on the internet or television. For example, in 1997 a fox owned Tv station became so intimidated by Monsanto that it deceitfully altered a report on one of Monsanto's GE products: rBGH, or called recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone. This product was designed to boost milk production in cows and one of its biggest concerns were that it had really high levels of insulin-like growth factor which research showed that women under 50 with high levels of insulin like growth are seven times more likely to develop breast cancer and men were 4 times more likely to develop prostate cancer. Not only was Monsanto able to alter the report in favor for itself, it was successful in getting the reporters that were in charge of this report fired and the story was never shown. This is why I believe that powerful companies, such as Monsanto, are corrupt and in order to protect their company’s image they bully media or even scientists and have them change their stories in favor of the company. However, even if some reporters or scientists try and
