Imagine an eight-foot-tall, super strong two-year-old, in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein the monster created by Victor is just that. Throughout the book the monster’s behavior and actions changes lives and how the story goes. Toxic stress is a response that can occur when a child experiences strong, frequent, and/or prolonged adversity, the mosnster shows signs of this. . The toxic stress and lack of education has a negative effect on the monster’s experiences, causing negative choices. The monsters lack of education leads him to make poor choices. From when the monster is created he has no education. All the monster knows is victor and victor does not teach the monster about life or skills that a child would learn.” The monster reading is rendered both more intense and disturbing by a narrow frame of reference that leaves him unable to uderstand what he reads”(Sharp,81). Without learning how to read properly the monster is uable to comprehend what the words he is reading means. …show more content…
The monster created by victor, and is tall and ugly, he tried to integrate himself into society. The monster tries to copy the human patterns that he observes, and when he tries to communicate and socialize with humans his looks scare people. When the Delaceys go for a walk except the father, the monster sees his chance to go and talk to him. The monster talks to oldman Delacey to see how he woukd react to him. “My heart beat quick; this was the hour and moment of trial which would decide my hopes, or relize my fears”(shelley,146). The monster successfully communicates with Mr. Delacey until his children return home and see him. The children react based on the looks of the monster, beating him and chasing him off.
