The first theme is the pursuit of knowledge and how he wanted to learn about life. Victor is by his actions straddling the paper thin line between scientific genius and utter insanity. However he ultimately crossed the line and began his descent into madness. Though that does not mean he was not an avid researcher, after all his ambitions would require near endless levels of continual study. Victor played a role in the story significantly and well thought out. He thought if he can bring the dead back to life he can possibly help the lives of others, so he and others wouldn’t have to deal with another death like his mother. “His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful” (Ch5). Victor dug up bodies and cut them limb from limb to create the creature to bring back from the dead playing as the role of God.
