I know myself enough to be aware that I am greatly affected by the things I see. No matter how psychologically detached I desire to be, I know that watching a movie involving a couple acting all cute and being sexually intimate, would leaving me feeling discontent. I know that watching a horror movie would make me scared. And I know that watching a movie with lots of disturbing ponographic scenes will elicit feelings (both the feeling of the desire to engage in a sexual act and the feeling of fear that is conveyed through the violent sex scenes and abuse). I was scared that if I watch the movie, I may enjoy it and start searching for movies with a similar plot, and then eventually get addicted to watching pornography. In addition, according to Life Site News, recent studies have indicated that young women who read the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy are more likely to suffer from domestic violence and eating disorders.
