Bruce, Linda 's relationship with the second Mrs. Bruce is just as strong as, some can say if not stronger. The second Mrs. Bruce was an American woman who also was hated the idea of Slavery was on a mission to do everything she was able to help Linda maintain her freedom from Dr. Flint. Once again another women in Linda’s life risks not only her own, but also the safety of her infant daughter to help protect Linda. In the end Mrs. Bruce purchases Linda 's freedom, demonstrating not only her absolute faithfulness to Linda 's welfare, but also her dedication to the concept of freedom.
All in all, not every female that crossed Linda’s path was on her side she did has a few issues with other female characters, but in the grand scheme of things, as one may see the female relationships throughout the Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl were very crucial to Linda. Harriet Jacobs wanted the truth published for all to know the harsh reality that was happening to the lives of so many slaves. It was devastating reading this story as times, but as the saying goes the truth hurts. Harriet 's main purpose of this story was not for people to feel sorrow or pity towards her, but to take a stand on slavery. To inform the uneducated on the sad truth behind the scenes. Women need to stick together and to take a stand, and even though the white women were not considered slaves, they had no rights of their own. Therefore, the female relationships need to stay strong women need to stand united to fight for what they deserve and throughout Harriet Jacobs story, with the help of other women she finally was free of
