Employed Mothers Nerds wear glasses and have braces, women are only useful for cooking purposes, boys are not as smart girls, girls are complicated, boys are simple.These are only a few popular stereotypes however, there are tons of stereotypes out there that have developed over the years. These stereotypes have even been promoted in Hollywood entertainment and thought of as a joke. There are negative and positive stereotypes, however many of them target a group of people and showcase them in a wrong manner that is not true. Even some that deserve better acknowledgement have been stereotyped. Since women are supposed to be fulfilling the typical housewife role, mothers that were employed was a shock to everyone. Many women today are targeted because they work while they have “neglected” children at home with “no food on the table” because someone isn’t there to cook it. Or they are often considered incompetent because they are women and women tend to be “emotional” and “distracted” by their children at home. Furthermore, women are also blamed because they supposedly go to work to avoid doing any household chores. Although people may believe these stereotypes, it needs to be acknowledged that women aren’t as weak as they are said to be, women aren’t fragile, women aren’t useless. These employed mothers can definitely handle the house and the job altogether. Jaspreet Kaur, was an example of someone who can handle both and still provide love and care for her child along with be financially stable. Statistics and research also back up the fact that women who were employed did have successful business rates. Thus, these stereotypes are just stereotypes. They are not true to any degree.
