I’m a good girl! She is evil!...Life is formed of many different things, and with many different people with strange ways you never expect to see out of them. One good example would be “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller. It is a magnificient play as a village is going through a questionable act that has taken place because of what a group of girls were caught doing. A major character named Abigail Williams is a very round character with multiple traits, as she encounters many different people/situations, and almost losing her life. Elizabeth Proctor, another major character who, as a matter of fact, is one of Abigail’s enemies, she is the wife of John Proctor, who Abigail admires because she has had an affair with him. In the beginning Abigail appears to be a sweet innocent girl but, as time goes by, she starts to turn evil. You can tell from the scene where the girls were talking about who would find out about the “witchcraft”, Abigail says to them “Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word about the other things I will come to you…” (Miller 468). This shows how she doesn’t want anyone to know the truth and if the truth is told what would be the consequence. Another example could be a stage direction, “Smashes her across the face.” (Miller 468). You could also view Abigail as a liar. She showed a lot of that when talking to her Uncle (Rev. Parris) about what went down in the forest. “But we never conjured spirits.” (Miller 463). “No one was naked.” (Miller 463). Her uncle knew some of what was going on but she still decided to tell a lie, instead of just confessing. One of the most biggest personality traits of Abigail is that she is sneaky. “A wind, a cold wind, has come.” (her eyes fall on Mary Warren)(Miller 519). Things were getting intense in the courtroom and she didn’t know what was going to occur after that, so she put on a show. “I never sold myself.” (Miller 482). She also shows a sign of becoming sneaky, she then puts the blame on Tituba. Abigail values only two things; to get revenge on Elizabeth and to be with John Proctor. Abigail is a very suspicious kind of correct. But, on the other hand, you have …show more content…
Honest, is one way to describe Goody Proctor, “Now she would justify herself.” (Miller 490), is a stage direction used to show what she does, instead of her lying, she stood up for herself and says how she really feels. “There would be no mark of blame upon my life.”(Miller 496). She shows a sign of honesty there because Mr.Hale asked if she knew her commandments, she eagerly stood up to say them and she also mentioned that she was a Christian woman. Elizabeth is also quiet. In The Crucible, Miller 489, the stage directions “With a smile to keep her dignity,” instead of her showing hurt, or anger towards John, she simply just smiled to keep herself calm. Mrs. Proctor was a good person who really didn’t do much but when Mary Warren told her that she saved her life today in court, she said “(softly), I am accused?” (Miller 492). Not only was she shocked at what Mary Warren just said but she also was a little curious, which caused her to be a little quiet, because it was something she didn’t expect. Goody Proctor, can also be easy-going. Miller 488, the stage directions said, “She doesn’t want friction,” this was when John Proctor asked her was she still sad, she didn’t want her husband to know how she really felt, so she just went along with it, she didn’t want a lot of tension to take place. As she was explaining to John that Mary had gone off to Salem, he asks her why
