She was born into a time with limited resources on mental illness which led to her not getting the proper treatment that she needed in order to better deal with and understand her illness. She was a woman born in the wrong period. At that time it was unheard of for a woman to write really well and to put their name on it and publish it, matter of fact they weren’t supposed to do anything but sit, be silent, and tend to the house, kids and husband. When Silvia was in college to told her college sweetheart that she didn’t want to be someone’s wife, she wants to be a poet. She wanted to share her gift. Then Silvia got the opportunity to intern with a magazine company, even they want her to change how she wrote. Silvia is honest and pure even if she is damage. She was a go getter no matter how hard it gets. She stand true to her own ideas and ways when others tried to change them. She felt like she shouldn’t have to change her words for everyday people to understand. Imagine leaving in the world where you are nothing but your husband shadow. In a world where you have to limit yourself and your talents. Living in this world only creates a ticking time bomb. Her mom even tried to change her writings. A mother is supposed to support, respect, and tell you are great and keep doing you because one day they world will have no choice but to open and hold the doors for you. Yet here mother didn’t do any of these things. She knew her daughter was sitting on gold and she could very well be the next best poet. Now imagine how Silvia felt.
