Knowing requires beliefs to consider it knowledge; however, modeling we use metaphors to help exaggerate what we are describing/talking about, but we consider metaphors useless. Yes, we do interpret our own mental state, because we consider our minds to be opaque which is one thing our brain will translate and help us understand. The time I think we are not interpreting our mental state is when our minds are no longer opaque and becomes difficult.
