Illegal drugs have been part of our culture for quite some time. Although many drugs are illegal, they still manage to get used and abused by addicts. Most drugs that are now illegal were once legal and prescribed to people for medical purposes. For instance, Methamphetamine was once used as an anti-sleeping aid and a weight loss supplement and LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) was used to support sick people’s breathing. These drugs were declared illegal once people found out the effects of the drugs. Now, drugs are used to cope with pain and disguise emotions. People that use drugs to mask emotions are those who need drugs to accomplish euphoria and make them believe they’re having a good time; this is how people end up abusing drugs. People desire to “feel good” all the time and they find their happiness in the drug. They also believe that nothing else can satisfy them if they are not high. Furthermore, most people who try drugs result in having a major addiction.
Addiction not only affects the user, but it affects the people associated with that them. Friends and family deal with the outlandish behaviors and the fact of their friend or family member has an addiction to drugs. Once a person becomes addicted to a drug, they change for the worst. They begin to be less concerned with hygiene, their physical appearance, and have disordered emotions.
Despite of all the risk, people will still engage in the use of drugs. Harmful health consequences are the results of constant…
