Great Depression The Roaring 20’s came to an end rather quicker than expected, and even better it went the opposite way. The 1920’s were a time of evolution and changing of cultures for not just Americans but people all over the face of the Earth. It all changed in a way people would never have expected when the stock market crashed and jobs flew out from under people. Jobs at this time were about as shined upon as a pile of gold. The unemployment rate of America at the time were the highest it has ever been. The 1930’s were disastrous for everyone, all were affected by this across the nation and nothing but time could resolve this. The Great Depression was a vast time in America where the world just stopped and no production was available.

Letter after letter people asked for money for bills or groceries, but they could never get anything in return except a letter phrasing that Mrs. Roosevelt had read it. The president and first lady could not give to these people because then everyone would expect something. If they would have wrote back and sent a bicycle to the little girl in Methuen, Massachusetts then all kids would expect a ride to school. As hard as it was to reject some of these letters they did and was waiting for everyone to pull through this time and not have these worries like they did before. Doctor bills was not a concern, for everyone never went to the doctor because they could not afford a single trip. That was food for the next few days in a single bill. Kids that may have had an accident was took care of by mother and that was all there was. A child in Milltown, New Jersey secretly went to a doctor because of an illness he/she had and had no parental supervision while doing so. The child had no way of paying the bill and wrote the president asking for money. Situations like these was not anything abnormal or new, nor was any other request
