In his article, “Don’t Blame the Eater” David Zinczenko believes that the fast food industry is responsible for the health and obesity epidemic in America. He argues that there are not many healthy alternatives to fast food for consumers, “particularly teenagers” to buy food. He goes further to state that some fast food companies are misleading and confusing consumers on the calorie information provided for the food sold at their establishments. He is correct about the fast food companies misleading consumers to buy their food. But I do not agree, that the fast food industry is responsible for the health and obesity epidemic. The fast food industry does not force anyone to eat their unhealthy food. It is the consumers responsible to know what you are eating and if it is healthy for you.

Some parents are unable to provide money to their children to purchase fast food for lunch or dinner. Therefore, parents have alternatives rather than to send your child to a fast food restaurant such as; preparing meals ahead of time or purchasing items your child can cook/prepare for themselves. Having no alternatives is an excuse that is used for people who do not make what they or their children eat a priority.
