The song Dance With The Devil by Immortal Technique talks about a young man named William a.k.a Billy Jacobs who has a capitalistic mentality stuck in his mind. This song has a common theme of living the drug lord life with lots of money and women. The main character goes through some struggles to become the top thug, but money, drugs, gangs, and evil where in his way. William only wanted to be a hardcore nigga, is and accurate statement to make about the main character with the evidence given by Immortal Technique. The song starts off with Immortal Technique (real name is Felipe Andres Coronel), telling the listener about William saying that William's main concern was making a million. This shows us a lot about his character. Next, Coronel goes on to talk about William’s personal life, living in the projects, his mom being a drug fiend, and his father never being there for him. In an article by GangFree.org, these are common reasons why kids turn to gangs and a dangerous lifestyle. After William was released from jail, he robbed and fought innocent people so that a gang would accept him since he had a history of snitching. Even though he was already selling weed, no one took him seriously because of his past of a snitch. When William noticed selling marijuana was not getting him enough street credibility, he began to sell crack cocaine. He had a Scarface fantasy embedded in his mind. Evil actually does this often. For example, people might cave into stealing things they cannot afford but want to show off in front of peers, this can lead to jail time. The person did not steal for no reason, greed and pressures of society got to them. In verse four of the song, Immortal Technique says the devil is everywhere, he could be hiding in a street cypher, or even standing next to you. Evil only grows inside the hearts of selfish and wicked people. The race of the person does not matter when it comes to evil. Evil will get to anyone it needs
