Twas the night before Christmas! Crisis at Christmas is a charity geared toward providing for the less privileged around Christmas time. In this ad the author is determined to persuade adults throughout the United Kingdom to pay a small price in order to pay for various necessities for the homeless. The author does an excellent job in persuading the audience by utilizing audience, formal features, style, and emotional appeal. The author also provides insight on how reader’s cooperation can benefit the homeless and the corporation.
The author hooks the reader with pronounced titles and animation and keeps them interested by making it easily readable. The author utilized big titles such as “COLD WEATHER ALERT” and “We’re planning to take on homelessness this Christmas. Will you?” These titles support the main idea and hook the reader by catching their eye and involving them through a question. Miniature subtitles throughout the article act as descriptions of each paragraph, which allows for a reader to very easily indentify the main ideas and formulate a decision quickly. Some information is separated into a box which also presents the information in an easy to comprehend format.
