Commitment. You might think of a person and how they respond when coming across obstacles that interfere with their goal. Will they keep reaching for their goal or will they surrender in defeat? The type of commitment others seemingly talk about is the whole husband and wife in similarity with boyfriend and girlfriend. Over the past decades, research has shown that the marriage rates are decreasing. America has officially hit an all-time low when it came to marriages when compared to all of its history. As of 2015, the marriage rate is 6.74 per 1,000 people, which is .35 less than 2008 (7.09). That number is only expected to decrease as divorce rates. What comes to mind? Perhaps a man with a few wives to call his own. This practice would have been seen as unacceptable, gross, and unfaithful had it been seen from the eyes of somebody in the 1900’s. In 2001, only 7 percent of America did not find it to be objectionable. As of 2015, polygamy is at its highest peak with more than 16 percent of America viewing it as “morally acceptable” and that number will only continue to climb. In “Brave New World” openly sexual relations between one another were acceptable and frowned upon if one failed to act. Polygamy is not as distant as what other suspect when comparing it to the book. The only major differences between the two are that in today’s world, they are all married where as in the novel, they are not.
