Cocaine is a substance that has been around for many years and still remains highly abused today. Cocaine is the psychoactive agent found in coca plants. Coca is one of the first, most compelling and most dangerous drugs of natural origin. It is used medically as an anesthetic and as an illegal drug. During the 1980’s cocaine use was at its finest. It was the preferred drug of use for the wealthy and acclaimed and was part of what some called a captivating life the “Champagne of Drugs”. During the late 1980s, cocaine was no longer the drug of choice for the wealthy. By the 90’s, it had the reputation of America’s most deadly and addictive drug, linked with crime, poverty, and death. The continued use of cocaine can result in increased risk of things like anger, insanity, and uneasiness. This can also result in psychosis and hallucinations. The toxicity of Cocaine can affect the circulatory system, liver, and brain. Heavy use appears to damage one 's mental ability, verbal memory, and problem-solving skills for about a month after taking the drug.
Cocaine is used in various forms. The most popular is powder, this is usually snorted through the nostrils. The powder is also injected by either putting cocaine into water or melting it and injecting. The second form is crack cocaine which is a solid form of cocaine and is smoked.
