Investigators probed the question whether the two convicts could be a part of an allege drug trafficking ring. It was found out that the two had more privileges than most of the other prisoners in the facility. Clinton Correctional Facility has a section of jail cells that are called “honor blocks”. These special jail cells are given to the convicts who have gone years without “significant disciplinary action”. The honor blocks have perks to allow these convicts the ability to do things and have certain luxuries. Convicts in these blocks would have the ability to go outside every day for a certain amount of time, and would also be able to go into an area each evening with fellow inmates. The luxuries they would receive in their cells consisted of hot plates, and refrigerators. “Give someone an inch and they take a mile” That’s exactly how I feel in this position. Why do we give such criminals such luxuries? They don’t have to pay rent, they don’t have to pay for food, etc. The convicts only pay for the actions they have committed. Usually maximum security prisons are for those who have committed crimes such as murder, kidnapping, etc. How do you give someone “good behavior”? You’re in jail it shouldn’t be luxury, it should be a place where you want to hit your head against the wall for the mistakes you’ve made. Conversations between the guards and the convicts could have allowed them to gain knowledge on such things, helping them. It’s worrisome to think about such things are happening as a maximum security. It makes you wonder what else goes in other prisons. Are things worse? Are the facilities more corrupt then the people that stay in them?
I wonder how hard it really to go prison is. In a world we live in today many Americans are in over their head in debt. When you go to prison you have nothing to worry about except for possibly getting your butt handed to you. Facilities seem to not be that too terrible of place to stay in. The tax payers pay for it, people commit crimes and it comes out of everyone else’s pocket. While you could be struggling to afford your bills these criminals are living the life with three meals, drugs, outside time, social evenings with one another etc. How is fair? You get more punished for the crime they
