In my research I did not find much in the way of reducing his optimism what I found instead was more concentrated on way to deal with poor performance, I found an excellent training article titled “20 positive ways to confront poor performance”, this can be found on this website http://www.amanet.org/training/articles/20-Positive-Ways-to-Confront-Poor-Performance.aspx I believe that Christopher would benefit greatly from reading this a couple of key pointers with this is that people are not machines, your feelings are obvious, become a partner not a superior and develop a clear path
