The visions Macbeth sees are representations of the temptations of his desire and fear. In act 3 after Macbeth becomes king from killing Duncan Macbeth has a dream about Fleance, Banquo’s son taking the crown and killing Macbeth this reminds him that Banquo’s children are heirs and a threat to Macbeth. This motivates him to plot a murder against Banquo and Fleance with two assassins “Your spirits shine through you. Within this hour at most I will advise you where to plant yourselves, Acquaint you with the perfect spy o ' th ' time, The moment on ’t; for ’t must be done tonight, And something from the palace; always thought That I require a clearness. And with him To leave no rubs nor botches in the work Fleance, his son, that keeps him company, Whose absence is no less material to me Than is his father’s, must embrace the fate Of that dark hour. Resolve yourselves apart. I’ll come to you anon.”(Act 3, scene 1, lines 132-144) This demonstrates Macbeth’s change in character by him feeling no more guilt when killing and only wants to keep his power as king. In Act 4 Scene 1 Macbeths work in the unnatural can be seen again when he meets the witches for the second time. He already knows that the witches can predict the future when he became king and wanted to know the answer to what was the chance of Banquo’s line of claiming the thrown and how secure was Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s reign. The witches tell him that no man born of a woman can defeat him, beware MacDuff, and he’ll be all good until Burnham wood comes to Dunsinane. “Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff; Beware the thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough.(line 71-72) “The power of man, for none of woman born Shall harm Macbeth.”(lines 80-81) “…Great Birnham wood to high Dunsinane hill Shall come against him.”(lines 93-94) These last three prophecies put Macbeth into an over secure state telling him that Macduff knows that he murdered King Duncan this changes his character by making him feel almost invincible and can do whatever he likes but later is slain by Macduff showing giving more information that the witches have been tricking
