As a matter of fact, before we gained independence, everything was going just good. Nigeria had no problem of corruption; our currency was one of the strongest as of that time, we were economically diversified and there was peace. Now everything seems just too different, some people even regret why and how it all happened that Nigeria and the whole African nations’ nose-dived into finding themselves to keep up the level at which they were when they got independence. “In the large literature on corruption in Africa, often overlooked is the issue that corruption became endemic and chronic after most nations gained independence” (Oluwole Owoye).
Immediately when Nigeria got independence, we had some decent leaders. We had Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sardauna of Sokoto, Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Sir Egunyi Ironsi. As time went by, the leadership position went into wrong hands and now the whole of Nigeria is suffering for

Sometimes leaders must be selfish in one way or the other to benefit their own community, but this is not the kind of selfishness we see in Nigeria. We see an intense leadership in Nigeria; we see the selfishness that involves the benefit of only one family over the whole of Nigeria. This kind of selfishness is termed immoral selfishness as discussed in the class by Dr. Ushakov who is a philosopher and a professor in American University of Nigeria (Ushakov).
With the large amount of revenue in Nigeria, nothing has been developing. The distribution of the resources to all parts of Nigeria has not been effective; the large chunk of money disappears just like that within the higher class of people who are trusted. The most annoying part is that, these leaders who are involved in these kinds of activities are never brought into question. Even if someone tries to fight for the rights of the people, they would bribe that person and corrupt his mind, and if he threatens to go against them still; he gets
