Justice In Nigeria
Page One - Introduction Read: Justice In Nigeria. In Nigeria from Pre to Post Colonization the way that people have been punished has changed, so the way that people have lived their lives has changed. Laws control how people live their lives, and since the laws were changes, people lives were changed.
Page Two - Basic Information Read: Justice is the process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals. Pre Colonized and Post Colonized Nigeria both enforced Justice, but they both did it in different ways, and they both had different definitions of justice. Pre Colonized Nigeria had four levels of power for order and punishment. Each one had more power than the level before, and it was informal, without written laws. Post Colonized Nigeria had written laws, and there law systems were based off from English common law, Islamic law, and traditional Nigeria law.
Page Three - Pre-Colonized Nigeria Read: In Pre-Colonized Nigeria the laws were informal with many unwritten rules. There were four levels of power for punishment. The four levels were Court of the Father, Council of the Elders, The Diviner, and The Oracle. Each level higher up had more power than the level before. The lowest court was the Court of the Father. The laws gave order in the Pre-Colonized age, and this was important even if some of the laws were unjust. Every civilization needs laws in order to have a structure, and to be a civilization. The laws also gave structure to their religion, because it intertwined aspects of the religion like the Oracle and the Diviner. The laws were very significant, in Pre-Colonized Nigeria, and without them, the land wold have been a very different place.
